In this guide, we will walk you through the steps to replace the Z-axis on your Sonic Mega 8K S, ensuring that your printer is operating at its best and producing high-quality prints.
Removing the Old Z-axis
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable
- Remove the rear case by loosening the 12 screws (see below pic)
- Slide off and remove the rear case with doors and put it aside
- Carefully lay down the printer
- Remove the 2 screws of upper bearing
- Loosen the upper screw of the coupling
- Remove the old ball screw
Installing the New Z-axis
- Place the new ball screw in position on the column
- If you need to replace the slide rail, loosen the screws along on the rail
- Tighten the upper screw of the coupling to secure the ball screw
- Tighten the screws of the upper bearing
- Tighten the 12 screws of the metal plate
- Tighten the screws of the T-plate’s arm
- Raise the printer back to its original position
- Install the rear case back in place
- Done
