LCD screen is an essential component in resin 3D printers. Please note that LCD is a consumable item which may need to be replaced after a certain period of time. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps of replacing the LCD on the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K S.

1. Disconnecting the Cables
Power down and prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug it
- Remove the resin vat and clean the LCD surface
- Unscrew 12 screws (4 on the two sides and 8 in the front), then slowly pull the front case towards you
Unplug the cables
- Unplug the Touch panel cable and the USB connector, then remove the front case
- Unplug the following connectors carefully: Unplug the four green connectors marked with black numbers 1 to 4 → Unplug the two white connectors beside the green connectors → Remove the black network connector on the side
- Remove the mainboard by loosening the three corner screws
- Unplug the LCD ribbon cable from the mainboard
2. Replacing the LCD Screen
Remove the old LCD screen
- Remove the black tape around the old LCD screen
- Gently lift the old LCD screen up from the front side, then remove it
- Unplug the LCD ribbon cable from the old LCD screen
The hot melted adhesive is used to protect the connections from shipping accidents. During your first replacement, you may need to remove it. You can use a cotton swab to apply sanitizing alcohol on the edges to soften the glue on both the LCD screen and the CHITUBOX mainboard. Once the glue has been softened, the ribbon cable can be removed easily.
Install the new LCD screen
- Remove the plastic protective film from both sides of the new LCD screen
- Plug the ribbon cable into the new LCD screen
- Put the new LCD screen in its place (Phrozen's logo should be present on the front side)
- Insert the ribbon cable into the gap next to the glass where the LCD screen is placed (ensure the ribbon cable doesn't block the LED lights)
- Use black tape to secure the LCD screen
As there is a gap present in the front, you’ll need to use a larger piece of tape or tape the area down twice to make sure that the gap has been sufficiently covered.
3. Reconnecting the cables
Install the mainboard
- Plug the LCD ribbon cable into the mainboard
- Tighten the three screws to reinstall the mainboard to the printer
Reconnect the cables
- Plug in the following connectors carefully: the four green connectors that are marked with numbers 1 to 4, the two white connectors beside the green connectors, and the network connector
- Move the printer's front casing closer and plug in the USB connector
- Tidy up the wires to avoid blocking the LED lights
Reinstall the front case and run LCD test
- Tighten all the screws to reinstall the front case onto the printer
- Run an LCD test to check if the new LCD screen works normally
