Before we start printing on the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K, we must first import the sliced 3D file onto the resin 3D printer. There are two ways to import 3D files: via USB, and via Ethernet.
1. Importing Files Via USB
Saving and Storing Your Sliced 3D Prints
- After slicing your 3D prints in a slicer software, save it as a .ctb file.
- Store the file on the USB provided in the Sonic Mega 8K toolbox.
If you are using the Phrozen Test file, please DO NOT slice the file as it has already been saved as a .ctb file.
Connecting the USB to the 3D Printer
- Plug in the USB onto the 3D printer.
Initiating Printing on the Touch Panel
- On the printer’s touch panel, click on 3D Print.
- Select your 3D file and click on Go to initiate the printing process.
2. Importing Files Via Ethernets
USB Connection Preparation
- Connect the USB included in the toolbox to the Sonic Mega 8K 3D printer to facilitate direct saving of the transmitted file onto the USB drive.
Obtaining the 3D Printer's IP Address
- Note down the IP address of the Sonic Mega 8K 3D printer; this is the destination for sending your 3D file.
Slicing 3D File Using CHITUBOX
- Use CHITUBOX V1.9.0 or above to slice your 3D file.
- Save the sliced file as a .ctb file if it's not the Phrozen Test file (which is pre-saved as .ctb).
Initiating Network Sending
- Click on "Network Sending" in CHITUBOX to transmit your file directly to the Sonic Mega 8K.
File Transmission Settings
- During Network Sending, the default file type will be .cbddlp, which is incorrect.
- Manually change the file type to .ctb for proper compatibility.
Confirming IP Address and Initiating Printing
- Wait for the file to be read and confirm the 3D printer's IP address.
- Click OK on CHITUBOX to commence the printing process.
Please follow these step-by-step instructions for a successful transmission and printing experience with your Sonic Mega 8K resin 3D printer.
