In the realm of 3D printing, the unwelcome challenge of dealing with cured resin clinging to the FEP film is a familiar foe for many users. As a pivotal component in the printing process, the FEP film occasionally bears the aftermath of cured resin, disrupting future prints. This guide aims to provide swift and effective solutions, offering simple tips to restore your FEP film to optimal printing conditions.
Removing Cured Resin from FEP Film
-
Use a plastic scraper
If your model falls into the resin vat during the printing process, you can use a plastic scraper to scrape it.
- Remove the resin vat from the printer
- Place the resin vat on a flat surface
- Use a plastic scraper to scrape the cured resin off the FEP film
- Remove the cured resin
- Filter and pour the remaining resin into a resin bottle
- Clean the resin vat
DO NOT use a metal scraper to scrape up cured resin. This can scratch the FEP film.
Wear safety gloves when handling resin.
-
Use fingertip
If a plastic scraper cannot work, you can use a fingertip to remove the cured resin stuck on FEP film.
- Filter and pour the remaining uncured resin back into the resin bottle
- Clean the resin vat as much as possible with 95% alcohol
- Use your fingertip to push the cured resin from the FEP film (see the below GIF)
- Pick up the cured resin with hand after it has been separated from the FEP film
