1. What’s Wrong with My 3D Print?
Sometimes, part of your 3D models is uneven in color with obvious discoloration. In addition, after washing and curing, minor scratches or even cracks may appear across its surface. If you have found this issue on your models’ surface, please continue to read through this article.
2. What Causes the Printing Issue?
Uneven color or discoloration on parts of a 3D print is usually due to resin not being mixed thoroughly. If resin hasn’t been used in a while, pigments within the resin start to settle to the bottom, which causes sedimentation and may affect printing results.
3. Troubleshooting the Printing Issue
In order to resolve the uneven color issue, we need to make sure resin is mixed well so that sediments will distribute evenly.
Resin is inside the resin bottle
- Shake resin bottle evenly for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute
Resin is already inside the resin vat
- Use a plastic scraper to mix resin for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute
- Make sure you do not use excessive force when the scraper contact the release film
Check out our Official Resin Profile to make sure you have correctly dialled in exposure time and the lift height. For more information on mixing resin, please refer to this article.
