When inspecting your resin 3D prints after some time, you suddenly notice some obvious cracks that have developed across them overtime? In this article, we will share with you the causes of the issue and how to troubleshoot it.
2. What Causes Resin 3D Prints to Crack?
The main reasons why cracks appear on models overtime include:
- Insufficient cleaning
- Models are not internally dried
- Models are hollow but there are no/inadequate drain holes
3. Troubleshooting Model Cracking Issue Overtime
Resolving the model cracking issue requires proper cleaning and drying methods. We suggest the following steps:
Cleaning resin models
- Clean resin models completely with IPA.
- Recommended to use Phrozen Wash Station for 3 mins at maximum to clean the models thoroughly.
- Make sure no layers of uncured resin shall be visible on the models’ surface
- If models are hollow, make sure they are also washed internally.
Drying resin models
- Do not leave any uncured resin inside models
- Use a fan or an airgun to dry models completely before post-curing process
- Cure models for sufficient time depending on model size and geometry (about 20-40 mins using Phrozen Cure Station)
