An LCD is essential in resin 3D printing. During printing, an image of each layer is generated on the LCD, while an array of LED chips project light through the LCD.
Please note that LCD is a consumable item, it may need to be replaced after a certain period of time. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps of replacing the LCD on the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K:

1. Disconnecting the Cables
Remove Resin Vat and Clean LCD Surface
- Take out the resin vat and clean the LCD surface.
Unscrew and Remove Front Casing
- Unscrew 4 screws on both sides and 4 screws on the touch panel.
- Remove the front casing.
Unplug Connectors
- Unplug the USB connector.
- Move the front casing to access connectors.
- Unplug four green connectors (1 to 4), two white connectors, and the black network connector.
Remove Mainboard
- Unscrew three corner screws on the mainboard and remove it.
- Unplug the LCD ribbon cable from the board.
2. Replacing the LCD
Remove Old LCD
- Remove tape from all four sides.
- Take out the old LCD
Unplug Ribbon Cable from Old LCD
- Unplug the ribbon cable from the old LCD screen.
- Soften glue with sanitizing alcohol if needed.
You can use a cotton swab to apply sanitizing alcohol on the edges to soften the glue on both the LCD screen and the CHITUBOX mainboard. Once the glue has been softened, the ribbon cable can be removed easily.
Prepare New LCD
- Remove plastic packaging from both sides of the new LCD.
- Plug in the ribbon cable into the new LCD screen.
- Place the new LCD, ensuring the ribbon cable doesn't block LED lights.
- Tape down all four sides, ensuring the gap is covered.
Reconnecting the Cables
- Plug in the ribbon cable into the mainboard to reinstall the mainboard.
Plug in Connectors
- Plug in four green connectors (1 to 4), two white connectors, and the network connector.
Plug in USB Connector
- Move the front casing closer and plug in the USB connector.
Tidy Up Wires
- Tidy up wires to avoid blocking LED lights.
Install Front Casing
- Tighten all 4 screws on the front side.
LCD Test
Conduct an LCD test. If the LCD functions correctly, the replacement is complete.
Please recalibrate your Z Axis after replacing the LCD Screen your printer.
