Z-axis sensor is an essential component of resin 3D printers. Its main function is to accurately detect and maintain the position of the build platform along the Z-axis. If the sensor is broken or malfunctioning, we will need to replace it.
In this article, we will guide you through necessary steps to replace the sensor cable on the Sonic Mighty Revo printer.
1. Removing the Old Sensor Cable
Power Down and Prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Place the printer on a flat surface.
- Follow this instructional video to remove the top cover.
Removing the old sensor cable
- Loosen the screw securing the sensor cable on the Z-tower.
- Follow this instructional video to open the front cover.
- Unplug the sensor cable from the mainboard carefully.
- Follow this instructional video to remove the back cover.
- Untie the cable bundle to free the sensor cable (see below photo).
- Pull the sensor cable though the hole behind the Z-tower.
2. Installing the New Sensor Cable

- Insert the blue connector end of the new sensor cable through the hole behind the Z-tower.
- Plug the 2 connectors (blue and white) into their designated ports.
- Tighten the screw to secure the sensor cable on the Z-tower.
- Tidy the cable bundle inside the printer.
Reassemble other components
- Reinstall the front cover and the back cover.
Verify the new touch panel’s functionality
- Plug in the power cord and switch on the printer.
- Run Z-calibration to check if the new sensor works normally.
