[Sonic Mighty Revo] Replacing the LCD

The LCD screen is an essential component in resin 3D printing. It is responsible for generating an image of each layer while an array of LED chips project light through it to cure the resin. As the LCD screen is a consumable part, it may need to be replaced after a period of time. When the LCD screen becomes damaged or worn out, it can result in lower print quality or failed prints. Therefore, replacing the LCD screen is necessary to ensure the continued performance and accuracy of your 3D printer.

1. Remove the Old LCD Screen 

Power down and prepare

• Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
• Remove the UV cover, building plate and resin vat.

Remove the old LCD screen

• Carefully peel off the black tape around the LCD screen.
• Locate the LCD connection cover (the plastic latch).
• Loosen the 2 screws securing the LCD latch.
• Open the LCD latch and gain access to the LCD ribbon cable.
• Remove the tape securing the LCD connection.
• Open the cable clip and disconnect the LCD ribbon cable.

• Carefully lift the old LCD screen up and remove it from the platform.

2. Installing the New LCD Screen

Install the new LCD screen

• Place the new LCD screen in its designated position.
• Connect the LCD cable and close the cable clip.
• Gently push the LCD cable down.
• Place the LCD latch back and tighten the 2 screws to secure it.
• Paste black electrical tape around the edge of the new LCD screen.

Check the new LCD screen’s functionality

• Plug in the power cord and switch on the printer.
• Perform the built-in LCD test to ensure that the LCD works properly.
