An LCD is essential in resin 3D printing. During printing, an image of each layer is generated on the LCD, while an array of LED chips project light through the LCD.
Please note that LCD is a consumable item, it may need to be replaced after a certain period of time. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps of replacing the LCD on the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2:

1. Disconnecting the Cables
Remove the resin vat and Clean LCD surface
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Take out the resin vat and clean the LCD surface.
Unscrew and Remove front case
- Loosen the 8 flathead screws on the front case using an H2 hex key.
- Open the front case slowly to avoid damaging the cables inside.
If you need to remove the front case completely, please disconnect the front USB Extension Cable and the touch panel cable from the mainboard.
Disconnect the LCD cable
- Locate the end of the LCD ribbon cable connecting to the LCD board.
- Carefully peel off the black tape on the LCD connector.
- Disconnect the LCD connector from the LCD board.
2. Replacing the LCD
Remove the old LCD
- Remove tape from all four sides.
- Take out the old LCD.
Install the new LCD
- Remove the plastic packaging from the new LCD.
- Place the new LCD on its designated place.
- Tape down all four sides, ensuring the gap is covered.
- Plug the ribbon cable into the new LCD screen.
- Ensure the LCD ribbon cable does not block UV light.
Install the front case
- Reconnect the touch panel cable and the front USB extension cable (if they have been disconnected previously).
- Tighten the 8 flathead screws on the front case using an H2 hex key.
Check the LCD functionality
- Run an LCD Test to check if the new LCD screen works normally.
