Now that you have Sonic Mighty 12K unboxed and ready let’s first spend a few moments to familiarize ourselves with the hardware and components of the printer. Feel free to bookmark this section and refer to it as you read through the rest of our Getting Started series and embark on your journey into 3D printing.
1. General Hardware Components
The tinted acrylic cover is an important part of LCD 3D printers as it keeps the printing environment clean from dust and other unwanted particles that might curdle in the resin. Another new feature in the Sonic Mighty 12K is the adjustable feet to make leveling easier. Phrozen always aims to make LCD 3D printing easier and more accessible, therefore the front USB port is added for easy access on top of the Wi-Fi and ethernet options.
Now, let’s take a look at the technical parts of this printer. Like every other LCD 3D printer in the market, the Sonic Mighty 12K is equipped with an end-stop bracket, a descending sensor, a resin vat, and a dual linear rail. However, the key to its superior 3D printing performance lies in the machine's impeccable 28µm 12K resolution mono LCD and the laster frosted building plate to ensure print adhesion and a successful print.
Additionally, a camera is added to the enclosure. This would allow you to monitor your 3D printing progress from anywhere while also having the control to take pictures and get status of your prints going on your printer. Quite exciting, isn’t it?
Lastly, there are several vital parts on the back of this LCD 3D printer like the power switch, power port, as well as a vent to keep everything cool and prevent overheating. Two more ports can be spotted at the back, one for ethernet and one extra USB port suitable for your Wi-Fi dongle.
