[Sonic Mighty 4K] Z-axis calibration

Z-axis calibration is essential for every 3D printer. Run this test to make sure that the build plate is leveled to the LCD screen. This is to ensure that models and prints will adhere to the build plate. 

We will guide you through the steps of calibrating your Sonic Mighty 4K LCD 3D printer by using a piece of A4 paper: 

1. Z-axis calibration

Power up and Prepare

• Remove the resin vat and make sure to remove any objects present on the machine's platform.
  
• Attach the build plate to the printer. Screw and tighten the build plate.
  
• Use the Allen wrench included in the toolbox to loosen all 4 screws on the sides of the build plate in a counterclockwise direction. After loosening it, double-check to see if the plate is loose and movable.
  
  Please do not remove the 4 screws located on the sides while loosening the build plate.
  
  
  
• Place a piece of paper  (roughly 0.07-0.10 mm) on the LCD

Please use 3 sheets of A4 size paper if you are using ACF Film. Furthermore if you are having any compression issues in Z Axis, feel free to check out our post here.

Perform z-axis calibration

•  Click NEXT and wait for 1-2 minutes as the build plate extends to the LCD screen.
  
• Once the build plate has touched down, apply pressure and press down firmly on the sides of the build plate. Pull on the piece of paper to make sure the build plate is laying tight against it.
  
  Make sure your device makes a beep sound before moving on to the next step.
  
  
• Set all four screws on the sides of the build plate in a clockwise direction while pressing down on the build plate with the other hand, in a cross pattern order, e.g., top-right, lower-left, top-left, and lower-right. Make sure to not tighten the screws completely.
  
• Tighten all 4 screws on the build plate in a clockwise direction while pressing down with the other hand in a cross-pattern order (as stated above) so that the build plate is securely fastened.
  
• Tug on all four corners of the A4 paper to check for pressure intensity. If it is tight, please proceed to the next step. If it isn’t, please perform the Z-axis Calibration test again. 

Complete the calibration

• Click DONE on the touch panel.
• Wait for the build plate to retract. Once the plate has retracted, remove the A4 paper. 

After completing the aforementioned steps, the Z-axis calibration should be successfully done, and you are now prepared to embark on your printing journey.
