The LED is where the 3D printer projects UV light through the LCD and cures the resin. The LED may need to be replaced after some time. In the following article, we have divided the post into 2 parts: removing the old LED and installing the new LED.
1. Removing Old LED
Preparing the Printer
- Remove the plastic cover, the vat, and the building plate.
- Make sure the building plate on the Z-axis is retracted completely. If not, click TOOLS, then MANUAL, and click on 10mm several times.
- Turn off the 3D printer and unplug the power cable.
Opening the Bottom Case
- Flip the 3D printer and remove the printer’s bottom using an m3 Allen wrench from the toolbox.
LED Cable Removal
- Remove the LED cable from the mainboard.
Disassembling LED Components
- Use an m2.5 Allen wrench to turn counter-clockwise and loosen the screws holding the LED lens and the LED light guide beneath it.
- Remove the LED board from the metal plate.
2. Installing the new LED
Installing the New LED Board
- Place the LED board in place and tighten the screws holding the LED board.
- Reattach the LED light guide and the LED Lens.
- Reconnect the LED cable to the mainboard.
Securing the Bottom
- Place the bottom back onto the 3D printer and tighten the screws.
- Turn the LCD 3D printer upright.
Verify the functionality of new LED
- Plug in the power cable and turn on the 3D printer.
- Perform the LCD test to ensure that the LED is functioning properly.
