If you notice that your printer’s LCD is dimming or not illuminating, there might be something wrong with your LEDs. This article will guide you through a complete process in which you can easily verify whether the LEDs can still function properly or have become faulty.
DO NOT look directly at the UV light to prevent eye discomfort.
1. Visual Checking the LED Chip (COB)
Power down and prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the front, top, and back cases.
- Carefully remove and lay the top plate down.
Identify burnt LEDs
- Locate the LED chip (COB) located by removing the top fresnel glass by loosening the 8 screws on the frame.
- Take a picture of the LED to see if there is any burnt LED (see below example).
Another method to identify burnt LEDs
- Turn on the printer, then tap TOOLS > LCD TEST to activate the LED.
- Take a photo of the LED chip (COB) to confirm if there is any burnt LED.
- Reconnect the LED power wires on the mainboard using a slotted screwdriver.
- Reconnect the cables on the LED driver board.
- Reconnect the touch panel cable.
- Plug in the power cord to an outlet.
- Turn on the printer.
- Perform “Vat Cleaning” and check if the LED works correctly (see below example).
2. Checking the LED Connections
If the LED on the Sonic Mighty Revo is not lighting up, check the connections of the LED terminals as they may be the cause of the issue. The LED connections consist of three terminals. Terminal 1 is the second block from the left on the mainboard, while Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 are located on the LED driver board.
Power down and prepare
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.

Be cautious when sliding off the cases to avoid damaging any cables
Reconnecting the black and white cables
- Prepare a slotted screwdriver.
- Gently tug on the red and black wires connected to Terminal 1 to check for any looseness.
- If the wires have become disconnected from the terminal block, use a screwdriver to reattach them.
Remove the LED module
- Remove the 4 screws on the LED module.
- Remove the LED module.
Check the LED cables on the LED driver board
- Reconnect the cables connected to the LED driver board.
Reassemble the printer
- Tighten the screws and assemble all the parts.
Turn on the printer and run a test
