Start with a small test piece to confirm that the printer, resin, and exposure settings work together before printing a full model. Once the printer is ready, use zonal exposure testing to compare normal-layer exposure times.
1. Confirm that the printer is ready
Check that the build plate and vat are secured, the release film is intact and free of cured debris, and the LCD surface is clean. If first setup is incomplete, read Unboxing Your Printer.
Run the leveling check using Wiki: Build Plate Leveling. Do not adjust the leveling screws simply because you are starting a print when the check already passes.
2. Prepare the resin
Wear nitrile gloves and safety goggles and keep the area ventilated. Check the resin type, color, expiry date, and recommended operating temperature. Mix the bottle according to its instructions and fill the vat below the MAX mark.
Gently mix resin in the vat with a clean, dry plastic tool without scraping or pressing the film. Allow visible bubbles to dissipate. For low temperature, sediment, or suspected contamination, follow Wiki: Resin and Temperature Diagnosis.
3. Verify exposure with a test piece
Open Tools → Zonal Exposure and select the zones, resin, test piece, and normal-layer exposure times. Start from settings recommended for the printer, resin, color, and layer height.
Use Wiki: Zonal Exposure Testing for testing and interpretation. Record each zone number and exposure time. Choose a result with complete details, clean lines, and no obvious merging, then apply that normal-layer exposure to the slicer. Bottom-layer settings still require separate verification.
4. Prepare the model and file
- Select the Revo MAX slicer profile and a compatible export format.
- Import the model and check size, orientation, supports, and hollow-model drainage.
- Review individual layers for unsupported islands or missing layers.
- Transfer the sliced file using USB or a verified network connection. Check its name and preview on the printer.
- Confirm safe surroundings and secure installation, close the cover, and start printing.
5. Remove and post-process the print
Wait for printing and motion to finish before removing the build plate. Collect drips and keep the scraper directed away from your hands. Never use a metal scraper on the release film or LCD.
Wash, fully dry, and post-cure according to the resin requirements. Inspect the base, supports, details, and dimensions; save successful settings with the environmental conditions.
If the first print fails
Remove cured debris before trying again. Follow Wiki: Print Failure Diagnosis to identify adhesion, exposure, support, or other issues. Change one type of variable at a time so that results remain comparable.
