Before printing, you may need to check the status of your Sonic Mighty 8K's LCD screen. This is to ensure that both the UV lights and the Mono-LCD screen are functioning properly. We will guide you through the steps of performing an LCD test and how you can read it:
There are 3 modes to choose from. Make sure to test your LCD screen in the following order:
- LIGHT UP ENTIRE LCD SCREEN
- BLACKENED LCD SCREEN
- LCD GRID
DO NOT look directly at the UV light to prevent eye discomfort.
MODE 1: LIGHT UP ENTIRE LCD SCREEN
On the touch panel, click on⚙️> System > Hardware Testing > LCD TEST > LIGHT UP ENTIRE LCD SCREEN
The LCD screen should be lit up completely. This ensures that the LCD screen lights up completely and that there are no black spots.
MODE 2: BLACKENED LCD SCREEN
On the touch panel, click on ⚙️> System > Hardware Testing > LCD TEST > BLACKENED LCD SCREEN
The light on the LCD screen should be covered up completely. This ensures there are no light spots and that the LCD screen can cover up the light.
MODE 3: LCD GRID
On the touch panel, click on ⚙️> System > Hardware Testing > LCD TEST > LCD GRID
The grid lines should fill the entire LCD screen. This is to test if the LCD displays the same grid image as the touch screen, if yes, it means the LCD works fine.
LCD Test is Complete
After all 3 modes have been displayed correctly on your LCD screen, your LCD screen is functioning properly. The LCD test is now complete.

Performing a Dry Print
Sometimes issues such as flickering or glitches may still be difficult to be identified after performing the above tests. This is why Dry Prints are helpful. A dry print is when you run a test print without placing the resin vat and the building plate. It is to check whether the LCD is flickering or not.
- Remove the resin vat and the building plate.
- Perform any test print of your choice.
- Inspect to see if the image shown on the LCD is the same as on the touch panel.
